Paul in Chennai!

Well I have been back for little over a month now! The school is off to a great start. I have 12 students in my class! I'm loving the small class size. Paul arrived in Chennai on August 14th for 2 weeks. We had a great time and he now knows why I love living here so much! The pictures are of a very busy two weeks. We had a wonderful
10th anniversary with friends and Priya brought us traditional garlands to celebrate the occasion! We went to a welcome back staff party at the Head of Schools house and then we were off to New Delhi then to Agra, destination Taj Mahal!
We then went to a great dinner hosted by one of my students parents last year. His father works for Ford India and Paul was given a tour of the plant. For those of you who know Paul you will understand that he described the experience "It was better then Disneyland"! We ended Paul's trip with a farewell dinner at Priya's house with friends! It was an amazing two weeks!! Hope you enjoy the pictures. For those of you following this I'm sorry about not keeping up.

SPRING BREAK 2011

Well my first week of spring break was going to Thailand for the NESA conference. Paul was able to meet me there for the week. We had a great time sight seeing, going out for dinner and Paul had silk shirts made in two days. He was surprised that they could do that but I think more surprised that they delivered them to the hotel. Back in India now exploring a little around here. It has been a great spring break. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

India Week at AISC

Hi to all,

It has been crazy since I have been back! I have very little time to keep up with this blog. India Week at school was great and very special. We had 3 assemblies which show cased traditional Indian dancing, students performing, great Indian food and a craft bazaar. It was a fun time for all. The staff and students dressed in traditional Indian dress, you will see in the pictures. I hope all is well with everyone back home. In April it will be spring break, the school is sending me to Thailand for a conference. Paul will be joining me there, it will be great to have a vacation! Enjoy the pictures and I will try and update this more often but no promises.

Back In India

Hi to all,
Well I came home 2 weeks early because my mom is very ill. I was home on the 6th and Paul and I started to get things in order for my mom and dad. She is resting comfortably now with Hospice in place and a private visiting nurse. It did not seem like I was home a month, there was so much to do and very little time was spent with Paul or my kids. I will say I'm happy that my mom and I got to spend this time together. The Dr's are sure she will not make it till June. We said our goodbyes and we both felt at peace with everything we put in place. It was not the break we had hoped for. I have a wonderful husband who has taken on so much while I have to be gone. Paul did have a surprise Christmas present for me which was way over the top. We have a tradition of seeing the Trans-Siberian Orchestra every year, but I was not home in time so he flew me to Denver to see them. It was a great time especially since we did not get that much time together. I ended up spending time at the local Starbucks to meet with friends and visited my old school, it was nice to see everyone. I got back to Chennai on Jan 7th, Domenic and I were glad to be back. I'm all unpack, went to the school today and did some shopping. I'm ready to see those smiling faces on Monday. Happy New Year to everyone!

Halloween Pictures

To many pictures for one post.

United Nations Day, Conferences, Halloween and Diwali

Hi I know it has been a long time since my last post. We have had UN Day, Conferences, Halloween and this week we celebrate Diwali, which is the festival of lights. It is traditionally a Hindu religious holiday. They are so many activities here it is hard to get teaching in. UN day was amazing, seeing all the flags come in one at a time from all the different countries was a real treat! One of my kindergartners help her dad carry the flag for Austria. Halloween is big here everyone dresses up and there is a Halloween parade around the school and kids stop at various places along the way to get candy, then a big party in the room after. In between all of this we finished conferences and now this weekend it will be the Diwali celebrations. I'm looking forward to the day off on Friday. I hope you enjoy the pictures from UN day and Halloween.
